BCFT is pleased to announce our 21st Annual Suppliers' night on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. We are excited to return to the Delta Burnaby Hotel & Conference Centre, central and convenient to both suppliers and attendees! This event is an exceptional opportunity for learning about new companies, ingredients, products and services and networking with other R&D technologists, food scientists, purchasers and senior management from leading food and beverage companies within BC.

Seminar A (1:30-2:30PM)

Title: Clean Label Expectation: Turning R&D Challenges into Winning Formulas with Botanicals

Description:Botanicals are more common than most people realize and there is much opportunity with what seems like a countless variety of botanicals. Most botanicals address the mainstream trend of clean label. Similar to other functional ingredients, botanicals can have challenges which can be overcome with thoughtful R&D. The presentation is on Delivering the Clean Label Expectation, “Turning R&D Challenges into Winning Formulas with Botanicals”. In this session, the presenter will provide an analysis of how formulators within the movement for clean label are tasked with finding botanical ingredients that meet consumer expectations, yet remain capable of performing well in products.

Title: Hydrocolloid/GUM 101 Technical Session

Description: During this seminar, we will describe, identify and define commonly used hydrocolloids in the Food Industry and provide guidance on how best to use them for optimal functionality. There will be a review of different products that use the hydrocolloids introduced. This hands-on seminar will also involve looking at gelling and non-gelling gums to assess the textural variations that are achievable. Finally, we will cover the hydrocolloid interactions and synergies with other ingredients and explain the types of benefits for various product applications.
